Fountains for Blind and deaf children

Except for pets like cats, dogs and rabbits, blind children have practically
no contact with the fauna, specially with big animals.
|
Animals, more numerous than the human beings
are the most important form of life on this planet. Human life
would not be conceivable without the fauna which preceded the
human being of several billion years. |
|
 |
It is unbelieveable that such an important part of the world
has been kept out of blind people's reach for such a long time.
The essential reason for the lack of informations about the
fauna is that a blind child can not understand the animal with
his sense.of touch.
|
|
A blind child can not guess the aspect of a rhinoceros
or a lion because their physical shape and nature cannot be explained
to him only with words.
It was necessary to create faithful copies of animals in miniature
that children could easily touch all around and so, understand the forms
of the living animals.
 |
So I created 30 animals on the same scale, representing a mattering
part of our big fauna
|
To stick as much as possible to real life, I placed under
the water all animals which live there, so that a child who
wishes to touch a shark will have to put his hand in the water
to do so.
|
 |
This garden and its 30 animals is the first step that creates
a first contact between blind children and the animal kingdom
This work has opened a whole new exciting world for the Oberlinhaus
children, which fascinates them.
|
The children have welcomed this project with enthusiasm. It
helps them to understand a little better a world that was always
very mysterious to them.
