Karsten Klingbeil
Born on march 1925 8th in Stettin 1936 moves to Berlin 1943 High degree (Abitur) 1940-1943 Student in several sculptors' studios, among them Prof. Max Esser, Prof. Renée Sintenis, Prof. Haffenrichter . 1943-1945 Soldier 1945-1947 Prisonner of war in Soviet Union were he can work as a sculptor (creation of sculpted portraits) 1948 After his release, goes back to Berlin and works there as sculptor in a pottery 1950 Student at the Accademy of Arts of Berlin The economic situation of the post-war Berlin forces him to look for other ways of making his living besides sculpture. His sense of initiative and his organizing talent allow karsten Klingbeil to succeed in the sectors of the distribution of magazins and building trade The creation and the development of these companies relegate the sculpture to the background from 1952 to 1983. Karsten Klingbeil limits his artistic activity in creating some portraits (especially children's portraits) as well as animals portraits and reliefs. In 1983 the sculptor retires from business and dedicates himself completely to his Art.
